Identify 12,000 malnourished children with the help of smartphone

With the help of the Center which has started the initiative to use the smartphone to monitor the facilities provided in Anganwadi, 12,000 severely malnourished children have been identified in 46 districts of six states. With the support of the Bill Gates Foundation, the Ministry of Women and Child Development started distributing smartphones in 62 thousand Anganwadi centers of six states from June this year to monitor the facilities provided there.

Union Women and Child Development Minister Maneka Gandhi said, “We have given more than 50 thousand mobile phones to Anganwadi workers. Through this phone, he was sending us daily reports about food and weights of children. ‘ Maneka said that if a child is weak and his weight is low, then the information is sent to the parent, anganwadi supervisor and child development project officer.

He said, “We have identified so many 12 thousand such children whose weight is very low. Together with the district administration, we are monitoring their position. The Minister said that 39 lakh children of 47 districts of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand and Rajasthan are being monitored. These children are from the same. The age of all these children is less than six years. Three lakh pregnant women and lactating mothers have been included in this program.
